Buying a used Nissan Skyline wheel hub: what matters

Fitment questions

Will a wheel hub from an R32 Skyline fit an R33?

The R32 ran from 1989 to 1994 and the R33 from 1995 to 1998, and these are distinct generations with different suspension geometry and hub carriers, so the hub from an R32 is not a straight swap onto an R33. The boundary between these two generations is a well-known engineering change point, and crossing it for running gear like wheel hubs is not reliable without confirmation. Always check the part against your exact registration with the breaker before purchasing.

Does a wheel hub from a 1995 Skyline fit a 1998 one?

Both years fall within the R33 generation (1995–1998), so you are within the same generation and fitment is much more likely to be consistent throughout that run. That said, confirm with the breaker that the hub matches your specific engine variant, as larger-engined cars such as the RB26-powered GT-R can carry different brake and hub assemblies compared to the smaller-engined models. Give the breaker your full registration to be sure.

Will an R33 wheel hub cross over to an R34?

The R34 Skyline ran from 1998 to 2002, making it a separate generation from the R33 (1995–1998), and the changeover between these two generations means you should not assume hub interchangeability across that boundary. Suspension and braking components were updated with the R34, particularly on the GT-R variant with its larger brakes, so crossing that generation line for a wheel hub needs to be confirmed directly with the breaker against your registration number.

Does the trim level matter — for example, will a GTS hub fit a GT-R?

Trim level alone does not affect wheel hub fitment in the way colour or interior spec would, but on the Skyline the difference between the GTS and GT-R is more than cosmetic — the GT-R runs the twin-turbo RB26DETT engine and carries significantly uprated brakes and wider hub assemblies front and rear. Because engine size and braking hardware drive the hub specification here, a GTS hub is unlikely to be a direct fit onto a GT-R even within the same generation. Confirm the exact engine code and brake setup with the breaker before ordering.

Does it matter which side I order — NS or OS?

Yes, wheel hubs are side-specific on the Skyline, and you must specify nearside (NS, passenger side in the UK) or offside (OS, driver side) when getting a quote from the breaker. Ordering the wrong side will mean the hub does not align correctly with the driveshaft or braking components. Always state your required side clearly when contacting dismantlers through Findapart.

Can I use a wheel hub from a Skyline sold in Japan (JDM) on my UK car?

Many UK-registered Skylines are grey imports originally built for the Japanese domestic market, and in a large number of cases the hubs are physically identical to JDM-sourced parts from the same generation. However, some cars were later modified with aftermarket brakes or suspension, which can change hub compatibility, so you cannot assume a JDM breaker part will fit without checking. Give the breaker your registration and confirm the hub specification matches your current setup before buying.
