Fitment questions

Will a sill from an older Ford Fiesta fit my newer one?

Sills are body-specific panels, so the generation and body style of the donor car both need to match your vehicle. The Fiesta ran across several distinct generations — Mk6 (2002–2008), Mk7 (2008–2017, facelifted 2013), and Mk8 (2017–2023) — and sills are not interchangeable across those boundaries. Name the generation boundary you're crossing to your breaker and let them confirm against both registrations before you buy.

Does it matter whether my Fiesta is a 3-door or 5-door when buying a used sill?

Yes, this is one of the most important things to get right — the sill runs the full length of the car between the wheel arches, and the pressing differs between 3-door and 5-door body styles because the 5-door has an additional door aperture cut into it. Always tell your breaker exactly how many doors your car has so they can pull the correct part. Fitting a 3-door sill to a 5-door shell, or vice versa, will not work.

I have a 2013 Fiesta Mk7 — will a sill from a pre-facelift Mk7 (2008–2012) fit it?

The Mk7 Fiesta ran from 2008 to 2017 with a facelift arriving for the 2013 model year, and while the underlying platform remained the same throughout, there can be pressing differences between pre- and post-facelift body panels. The sill may or may not interchange across that 2013 boundary — this is exactly the kind of question you should confirm with your breaker by checking both registrations directly. Don't assume it fits just because both cars are Mk7.

Does the trim level affect which sill I need — for example, does a Zetec sill differ from a Titanium or ST-Line sill?

Trim level does not affect sill fitment — the structural pressing is the same across Zetec, Titanium, ST-Line, and other trim grades within the same generation and body style. The one cosmetic difference you may notice is that some trim levels had sill mouldings or body-coloured trim strips attached, which may or may not come with a used part from a breaker. Confirm with your breaker what's included, but don't worry about trim level when it comes to the sill itself fitting your car.

Will a sill from a Fiesta van fit a Fiesta hatchback?

No — the Fiesta van is a panel van conversion based on the hatchback platform but with a significantly different body structure behind the B-pillar, and the sill pressing will differ accordingly. Always specify hatchback or van clearly when contacting a breaker, and give them your registration so they can cross-reference the exact body style. Mixing van and hatchback body panels is unlikely to result in a usable fit.

Is the sill a nearside/offside part, or does one sill fit both sides of the car?

Sills are side-specific — the nearside (passenger side, NS) and offside (driver side, OS) sills are mirror-image pressings and are not interchangeable with each other. When contacting a breaker, always state clearly which side you need, using NS for the left-hand (kerb) side and OS for the right-hand (road) side. Getting this wrong is an easy and frustrating mistake, so double-check before ordering.
