Fitment questions

Will a sill from an older Qashqai fit my newer one?

The Qashqai has two distinct generations: the first-generation (J10) ran from 2007 to 2013, and the second-generation (J11) ran from 2014 onwards with a facelift around 2017. Sills are body-specific pressings and will not interchange between the J10 and J11 — you need a sill from the same generation as your car. If you are looking near the 2013–2014 boundary, confirm with the breaker against your registration that the donor car matches your exact generation.

Does the trim level affect which sill I need for my Nissan Qashqai?

No — trim level does not affect sill fitment on the Qashqai. Whether your car is Visia, Acenta, N-Connecta, Tekna or any other grade, the structural sill pressing is the same. Do bear in mind that some trim levels add plastic lower body cladding or side mouldings over the sill, so a used sill sourced from a lower-spec car may arrive without those cosmetic pieces — worth checking with the breaker before you buy.

Does it matter whether my Qashqai is petrol or diesel when ordering a sill?

No — engine type has no bearing on sill fitment whatsoever. The sill is a structural body panel and is identical across petrol, diesel, and mild-hybrid variants within the same generation. Focus on matching the generation (J10 2007–2013 or J11 2014-on) rather than the engine.

Will a sill from a 2016 Qashqai fit a 2018 facelift model?

Both the 2016 and 2018 Qashqai fall within the J11 generation, but the facelift around 2017 can sometimes bring subtle changes to body pressings. The generation is the same, which is a good starting point, but because mid-generation pressing changes are possible you should confirm with the breaker against your specific registration before purchasing to be sure the panels match exactly.

Is a sill the same part as a sill cover or sill trim on the Qashqai?

They are different things — the sill itself is the structural metal section running along the underside of the car between the front and rear wheel arches, whereas a sill cover or sill trim is the plastic finishing piece that clips over it. When contacting a breaker, be clear about whether you need the metal sill (typically required after accident damage or corrosion) or the decorative plastic cover, as these are priced and sourced separately.

Can I use a sill from a Nissan Qashqai+2 on a standard five-seat Qashqai?

The Qashqai+2 was a seven-seat, longer-wheelbase variant sold alongside the first-generation J10 until around 2013, and its extended body means the sill length and pressing are different to the standard Qashqai. A sill from a Qashqai+2 will not correctly fit a standard Qashqai, so make sure the breaker's donor vehicle is the same body variant as yours. If you are unsure which variant you have, confirm against your registration with the breaker before ordering.
