Fitment questions

Will a sill from an older E-Class fit my newer one – for example, does a W210 sill fit a W211?

No – the sill is a structural body panel welded to the floor and door apertures, and it is completely generation-specific; the W210 (1995–2002) and W211 (2002–2009) are entirely different platforms with no panel compatibility. You need to match the generation exactly: W124, W210, W211, W212 (2009–2016), or W213 (2016 onwards). Always confirm the exact generation with the breaker against your registration before ordering.

Does body style matter when buying a used E-Class sill – will an estate sill fit a saloon?

Yes, body style is critical for sills – the saloon, estate (T-Model), and coupé each have different door aperture lengths and roofline profiles, meaning the pressed shape of the sill panel differs between them. A W212 saloon sill will not correctly fit a W212 estate, for example. Always tell the breaker your exact body style, not just the generation.

Does the trim level affect which sill I need – is an E220 sill the same as an E350 sill?

Engine and trim level make no difference to sill fitment on the E-Class – the sill is a structural body panel determined by generation and body style, not by what is under the bonnet. An E220 and an E350 on the same platform and body style will share the same sill pressing. Do bear in mind that AMG Line and full AMG variants sometimes feature different side skirt trims fitted over the sill, so check whether your car has add-on skirts that will need to be sourced separately.

I have a 2013 E-Class – will a pre-facelift W212 sill fit it?

The W212 ran from 2009 to 2016 with a facelift in 2013, and while the underlying platform is the same throughout, mid-generation pressing changes to body panels can sometimes mean early and late examples differ. You should confirm with the breaker whether the specific sill they have comes from a pre- or post-2013 car and ask them to verify it against your registration before purchasing.

Does the NS sill differ from the OS sill on the E-Class?

Yes – nearside (NS, passenger side) and offside (OS, driver side) sills are mirror-image panels and are not interchangeable with each other. When contacting a breaker, always specify clearly which side you need, NS or OS, as well as your generation and body style.

Can I use a sill from a C-Class or S-Class on my E-Class?

No – although Mercedes-Benz models within the same era may share platform philosophy, the sill panels are model-specific and sized to each car's unique wheelbase and door aperture dimensions. A C-Class sill is shorter and a S-Class sill is larger; neither will fit an E-Class. Stick to E-Class donor cars of the matching generation and body style.
