Fitment questions

What years does the Mercedes-Benz A-Class W176 bumper fit?

The W176 generation ran from 2012 to 2018 and received a facelift in 2015, which brought revised front bumpers, grilles and lights. Bumpers from 2012–2015 pre-facelift cars should fit other pre-facelift W176s, and 2015–2018 facelift bumpers should fit other facelift cars. Whether a pre-facelift bumper can be swapped onto a facelifted car or vice versa is something you should confirm with the breaker against your registration, as the panels around the grille and lighting apertures changed at that 2015 update.

Will a W176 A-Class bumper from a 2014 car fit my 2016 A-Class?

Your 2014 car is a pre-facelift W176 and your 2016 is a post-facelift W176, so they sit either side of the 2015 facelift boundary where bumper styling changed. The two bumpers are therefore not straightforwardly interchangeable, and you should confirm with the breaker whether the specific panels cross that facelift line before purchasing.

Does it matter whether my A-Class is a 3-door or 5-door when ordering a bumper?

Within the same generation, front bumpers are shared across body styles, so the door count does not affect fitment for the front bumper. What matters is the generation and whether your car is pre- or post-facelift, which the breaker can confirm against your registration plate.

Does trim level affect which bumper I need — for example, does an AMG Line A-Class take a different bumper to a SE or Sport?

Trim level does not change the fundamental fitment of the bumper, so a bumper from a SE or Sport will physically mount to an AMG Line car of the same generation and facelift period. However, you should expect cosmetic differences — AMG Line models typically feature more aggressive lower apron styling and different air intake surrounds, so the finished look may not match your original if you fit a bumper from a lower-specification trim.

I have a W177 A-Class — what years does that cover and does the bumper differ from the W176?

The W177 is the current fourth-generation A-Class, launched in 2018, and it is a completely different platform to the W176, meaning bumpers between the two generations will not interchange. For a W177, confirm the exact model year with your breaker, as a mid-cycle refresh was introduced around 2022 which may have brought bumper styling changes — your breaker will be able to check the correct part against your registration.

Does the engine or gearbox affect which A-Class bumper I need?

Engine and gearbox choice have no bearing on bumper fitment for the A-Class — what matters is the generation (W176 or W177) and whether your car is pre- or post-facelift. Give the breaker your registration and they can confirm the correct bumper for your exact vehicle.
