Used Ford Ka EGR Valve

Only some Ford Ka variants were fitted with an EGR valve — specifically the diesel-engined models, which used a 1.3 TDCi engine (engine code F6JA/F6JB) and were sold from around 2009 onwards in the Mk2 Ka generation. The original Mk1 Ka (1996–2008), which was petrol-only across all variants, was never fitted with an EGR valve. If your Ka is a petrol model — including the 1.2 and 1.3 petrol engines — it will not have an EGR valve, and any listing claiming otherwise should be treated with caution.

The Ford Ka came in two main generations: the Mk1 (1996–2008) and the Mk2 (2008–2016), with the Mk2 being a completely different platform based on the Fiat 500. EGR valves only apply to the Mk2 generation, as that is the only generation in which a diesel engine (the 1.3 TDCi) was offered. If you have a Mk1 Ka of any trim, you do not have a diesel engine and therefore do not have an EGR valve.

Both years fall within the Mk2 Ka generation (2008–2016) and share the 1.3 TDCi engine, so there is a reasonable possibility of compatibility — however, emissions-era differences (Euro 4 versus Euro 5 boundaries apply around 2011) could affect whether the valve is an exact match. You should confirm the engine code on both donor and recipient vehicles with the breaker against your registration before purchasing. Never assume fitment purely on year overlap.

Trim level — whether Studio, Style, Zetec, or any other Ka trim name — does not affect EGR valve fitment at all; what matters is the engine code and emissions specification. All 1.3 TDCi Ka models share the same basic EGR valve application regardless of trim, so you do not need to seek a valve from a matching trim. The only differences you might notice between cars of different trims are cosmetic or interior features, none of which are relevant to this mechanical component.

The Mk2 Ford Ka and the Fiat 500 share the same platform and both used variants of the 1.3 diesel engine, so there is a genuine technical basis for asking this question. However, whether the EGR valve from a specific Multijet variant will interchange with your Ka TDCi depends on the exact engine code and emissions specification of both vehicles. This is strong confirm-with-breaker territory — give the breaker both registrations and ask them to cross-reference the part numbers before committing to a purchase.

A petrol 1.2 Ka does not have an EGR valve, so if you are chasing an emissions or running issue it is more likely you need a catalytic converter, lambda (oxygen) sensor, or possibly a throttle body. For MOT-related exhaust emissions failures on a petrol Ka, the catalytic converter is usually the first component to investigate. Confirm the exact fault code or MOT advisory with your mechanic before ordering any part, and give the breaker your full registration so they can identify the correct component.
