A buyer's guide to used Fiat Ducato door card

No two door cards are quite the same across different vehicles, so getting the specifics right matters when you buy used, second hand or a replacement. Answer a few quick questions below and breakers will only quote if they have the exact matching part in stock:

Fitment questions

Will a door card from an older Fiat Ducato fit my newer one?

The Ducato has gone through distinct generations, most relevantly the Mk2 (1994–2006), the Mk3 (2006–2014), and the Mk4 (2014 onwards), and door cards are not interchangeable across these generations as the door shell dimensions and trim fixing points differ. Within the same generation there is more chance of a match, but you should always confirm the exact year of both vehicles with the breaker before buying. A facelift within a generation can also affect the card design, so quote your registration and the donor vehicle's registration to the breaker to be sure.

Does it matter which side the door card is from — can I use a driver's side one on the passenger side?

Yes, side matters — door cards are handed, meaning a nearside (NS, passenger/left) card will not fit an offside (OS, driver/right) door and vice versa. When contacting a breaker, always specify NS or OS clearly, as well as whether it is for a front, sliding side, or rear door. Getting this wrong is one of the most common ordering mistakes on van parts.

Does it matter whether my Ducato is a short wheelbase or long wheelbase when buying a door card?

For the front doors, wheelbase does not affect fitment — a front door card from a short wheelbase Ducato of the same generation should match a long wheelbase van of the same generation. However, for the sliding side door, the door size can vary between wheelbase variants, so the door card for a sliding door may differ, and you should confirm the wheelbase with the breaker when ordering a sliding-door card. Rear hinged door cards are also a separate part from the sliding side door card, so make sure you are clear which door you need.

Does trim level affect which door card I need for my Ducato?

The Fiat Ducato is sold in commercial van trim levels (such as entry, mid, and top-specification variants) rather than named car-style trims like Zetec or Titanium, and trim level generally does not affect the physical fitment of the door card to the door frame. What can differ between trim levels is the finish, texture, or whether the card has cut-outs or mouldings for electric window switches or other features — these are cosmetic and functional differences rather than fitment differences. A door card from a different trim level may physically clip on but could look different or lack the right cut-outs, so check with the breaker what features the donor card has before buying.

I have a 2013 Ducato — will a door card from a 2015 model fit?

This is a generation boundary question: the Mk3 Ducato ran from 2006 to 2014, while the Mk4 began in 2014, so a 2013 van is Mk3 and a 2015 van is Mk4 and the two generations use different door shells and trim fixings. Cross-generation fitment is very unlikely to work, and we would not recommend assuming compatibility here. Confirm both registrations with the breaker, who can verify whether any overlap or revised tooling means a card could cross this boundary — but do not assume it will.

Does the engine type or gearbox affect which door card I need for my Ducato?

No — engine type, gearbox, and drivetrain have no bearing on door card fitment whatsoever. The parts that matter are the generation, which door position (front, sliding side, or rear), and which side (NS or OS). You can safely disregard engine size or fuel type when searching, and any breaker asking for engine details for a door card is simply using them to identify the vehicle's age and spec, not because the engine changes the card itself.
