Fitment on a used wing mirror varies by vehicle, so a bit of detail goes a long way. Our request form covers what breakers need to know, so every quote you get back is for the correct part:
The BMW X5 has run across three main generations: the E53 (2000–2006), the E70 (2007–2013), and the F15 (2014–2018), with a fourth generation the G05 arriving from 2019 onwards. Each generation uses its own distinct mirror design, so you must match the mirror to the correct generation — a mirror from an E70 will not fit an E53 or F15. When searching or requesting quotes, give breakers your registration so they can confirm the exact generation.
The E70 received a facelift in 2010, and while the basic door structure carried over, mirror feature variants such as folding mechanisms, indicator repeaters, and heating elements can differ between pre- and post-facelift cars. The physical mounting may be compatible, but you should confirm with the breaker against your registration before buying, as crossing that 2010 facelift boundary is not guaranteed to be a straight swap. Always check the breaker can match your specific mirror spec.
Trim level — whether SE, Sport, M Sport, or xLine — does not change the fundamental door shell or mirror mounting on the X5, so the fitment frame is the same across trims within the same generation. However, higher or sportier trims may have come with additional mirror features such as auto-folding, puddle lights, or different indicator styles, so a mirror sourced from a lower-spec car could look or function differently on yours. Confirm with the breaker which features your original mirror had so they can match as closely as possible.
In UK convention, nearside (NS) is the passenger side (left), and offside (OS) is the driver side (right). Wing mirrors are side-specific and are not interchangeable between NS and OS, so always specify which side when requesting a quote from a breaker. Check your registration details or simply confirm which side of the car the mirror sits on before ordering.
No — the G05 (2019 onwards) and the F15 (2014–2018) are entirely separate generations with different body panels and mirror designs, so mirrors from these two generations will not interchange. Always match the mirror to the correct generation, and provide your registration to the breaker so they can source the right part. Fitting a G05 mirror to an F15 is not a viable swap.
Colour is not a fitment issue — any correctly fitting mirror for your generation, side, and spec can be resprayed to match your car's colour. What matters for fitment is the generation, the side (NS or OS), and the mirror's feature set matching your original. Most breakers supply mirrors in the donor car's colour, so factor in a respray cost if needed rather than limiting your search to an exact colour match.
