Fitment questions

Will a side skirt from an older GLC fit my newer one – does the 2015–2019 pre-facelift share parts with the 2019-on facelift?

The GLC X253 generation ran from 2015 to 2023, with a facelift arriving in 2019 that brought restyled bumpers, lights and exterior trim – and the side skirts changed in profile and finish at that point too. Whether a pre-facelift skirt from 2015–2018 will physically bolt onto a 2019-on facelift car is not something we can confirm as a rule, so please check with the breaker quoting you, giving them your registration so they can verify against the exact build date. Never assume a part will fit just because it is the same generation.

Is there a second-generation GLC, and do its side skirts fit the first-gen car?

Yes – Mercedes launched the second-generation GLC, coded X254, in 2023, and it is a completely new platform with a different body shell to the X253 (2015–2023). Side skirts from an X254 will not fit an X253, so when searching for used parts make sure the breaker confirms the part comes from the correct generation for your car. Always give the breaker your registration to avoid any mix-up.

Does the trim level affect which side skirt I need – for example, does an AMG Line skirt differ from an SE or Sport skirt?

Trim level does not change the underlying fixing points or panel structure, but the GLC was sold in the UK in SE, Sport, AMG Line and AMG Line Premium grades, and AMG Line models carry a more pronounced, sportier side skirt design that differs visually from the plainer SE and Sport items. If your car is AMG Line you need an AMG Line skirt, and vice versa – fitting the wrong trim's skirt is possible structurally but it will look mismatched. Tell the breaker both your generation and your trim level so they can supply the right style.

I have a 2017 GLC – will a side skirt from a 2016 or 2018 car fit it?

Yes, all three years sit within the pre-facelift X253 generation (2015–2019), so side skirts from any of those years should share the same body structure and attachment points. Trim level is still worth mentioning to the breaker – an AMG Line skirt from a 2016 car is the right match for a 2017 AMG Line, for example. Confirm the part number with the breaker against your registration before purchasing.

Do GLC side skirts differ between petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants?

Engine and drivetrain type do not affect side skirt fitment on the GLC – the same body panels are used across the petrol (e.g. GLC 250, 300), diesel (GLC 220d, 250d) and PHEV (GLC 300e) variants within the same generation and facelift period. Focus your search on getting the correct generation and trim level rather than worrying about what is under the bonnet. A good breaker will cross-reference your registration to double-check.

Is a side skirt from a GLC Coupe (C253) interchangeable with a standard GLC (X253)?

No – the GLC Coupe (C253) has a different roofline and reshaped lower body compared with the standard GLC (X253), and the side skirts are not the same between the two. Both were sold in the UK simultaneously, so make sure the breaker knows whether your car is the standard SUV or the Coupe body style. Giving the breaker your registration is the safest way to ensure they pull from the correct donor vehicle.
