Fitment questions

Does a centre console from a 2016 GLC fit a 2019 GLC?

The original GLC (X253) ran from 2015 to 2022, with a facelift arriving in 2019, so a 2016 unit and a 2019 unit sit either side of that facelift boundary. The facelift brought interior updates including revised trim and infotainment surrounds, which means the centre console shape and fixings may differ between pre- and post-facelift cars. We'd strongly recommend confirming with the breaker against your registration before buying, as cross-facelift fitment is not guaranteed.

Will a GLC centre console from any year fit regardless of engine — diesel, petrol or hybrid?

Yes, the engine fitted to your GLC does not affect which centre console you need. The centre console is an interior trim part and is matched by generation and trim level, not by what's under the bonnet, so a diesel-sourced unit can go into a petrol car of the same generation and trim without issue.

Does the centre console differ between GLC trim levels — for example Sport, AMG Line or SE?

Trim level can affect the centre console on the GLC, as higher-specification variants such as AMG Line may feature different finishes, stitching, or integrated controls compared with SE or Sport models. The physical mounting points are generally the same within a generation, but cosmetic differences mean a unit from a different trim may look out of place in your car. Confirm with the breaker which trim the donor part came from so you can judge whether the finish is an acceptable match for your interior.

I have a 2022 GLC — does that mean I need a second-generation part?

The first-generation GLC (X253) ran from 2015 through to 2022, so a 2022 car is still the X253 generation rather than the second-generation C254 that launched from 2023 onwards. A centre console from another X253 car (2015–2022, facelift considered) is what you'd be looking for, but do check the pre- or post-facelift split with the breaker if your car is a 2019-onward model, as interior trim changed at that point.

Does the GLC actually have a centre console, or is it shared with another Mercedes model?

Yes, every variant of the Mercedes-Benz GLC has a centre console — it's a standard feature across all engines, trim levels and body configurations of this model. It is a GLC-specific part and should not be swapped with consoles from other Mercedes models such as the C-Class or GLE, as those share a platform or body style but have differently shaped consoles that won't align correctly.

Can I fit a GLC centre console myself, or does it need a garage?

The centre console itself is generally a trim and fixings job with no safety-critical systems directly involved, making it a feasible DIY task for someone comfortable with interior trim removal. However, if your console area is adjacent to, or integrated with, any airbag components or controls, those elements must be handled by a qualified technician, as airbags are safety-critical and single-use once deployed. If in doubt, have a garage carry out the swap or at least check the area before you start.
