Fog lights were not fitted as standard across all CLA variants – they were typically an optional extra or included only on higher specification trims, so it's common to see CLAs without them. If your car originally came without fog lights, the bumper may lack the required cut-outs or wiring, making a straight swap more involved than a like-for-like replacement. If you're looking to add fog lights to a car that never had them, confirm with the breaker whether the donor car's bumper and wiring loom are included, as you may need more than just the light unit itself.

The first-generation CLA, known internally as the C117, ran from 2013 to 2019 and received a facelift in 2016, which brought changes to the front bumper, grille and light clusters. A 2015 car is pre-facelift, so you'll want to source a fog light from another pre-facelift C117 (2013–2015) for the best chance of a direct fit. Whether a post-facelift (2016–2019) fog light crosses over to a pre-facelift bumper is something you should confirm with the breaker against your registration, as the bumper apertures and fittings may differ.

The 2016 facelift of the C117 CLA introduced a redesigned front bumper, which means fog light housings and fittings from post-facelift cars are unlikely to be a straightforward swap into a pre-facelift bumper. We'd strongly recommend confirming this with the breaker against both registrations before purchasing, as the aperture shape and mounting points can differ across the facelift boundary. Buying a like-for-like fog light from the same pre-facelift build period (2013–2015) is the safer route.

The second-generation CLA, the C118, launched in 2019 on an entirely new platform with a redesigned front end, so its fog lights are not compatible with the first-generation C117 (2013–2019). These are completely different generations and the parts are not interchangeable. Always confirm the generation with the breaker against your registration to make sure you're quoted for the correct car.

Engine and drivetrain do not affect fog light fitment on the CLA – the front-end panels and light housings are shared across the engine range within the same generation and facelift period. The key things that matter are the generation (C117 or C118) and whether your car is pre- or post-facelift. Do bear in mind that if your car came without fog lights as standard on its original specification, the bumper trim and wiring may need attention beyond just the lamp unit itself.

Trim level does not change the fundamental fog light unit on the CLA within the same generation and facelift period, so an AMG Line fog light and an SE fog light from equivalent cars are generally the same part. However, AMG Line models often feature a different front bumper styling with a different surround or bezel around the fog light aperture, so the light unit may look slightly different in situ depending on which bumper it came from. Confirm with the breaker that the donor car's bumper style matches yours if you want the finished result to look correct.
