The F10 M5 ran from 2011 to 2016, all using the twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 with engine code S63B44, so the engine code is consistent across that generation. In principle, year-to-year ECUs within the same engine code are the closest match you will find, but whether a 2012 unit fits a 2014 car without modification is something you should confirm with the breaker against your registration, as ancillary calibration or software revision changes mid-production can affect direct swapping. Bear in mind too that ECUs are typically paired to the vehicle's immobiliser and DME, so coding work by a specialist is almost certainly required regardless of which compatible unit you source.
Trim level does not change the fundamental ECU part – the F90 M5 (2018 onwards) uses the S63B44T4 twin-turbocharged V8 across standard, Competition, and Competition xDrive variants, so you are not looking at different engine management hardware based on trim badging alone. The Competition Pack brings revised power outputs, which can mean different software calibration, so confirm with the breaker whether the unit they have carries Competition or standard software and whether it has been mapped, rather than assuming any F90 M5 ECU is identical.
