Cheap BMW 8 Series Wiper Motor

The current BMW 8 Series (G15 coupe, G14 convertible, G16 Gran Coupe) has been produced from 2018 onwards, so wiper motors from any car within that generation are the strongest candidates for a match. Because the 8 Series has only existed in this single modern generation so far, there is no earlier G-series boundary to worry about. Always confirm the front or rear motor you need when contacting the breaker, and ask them to check against your exact registration to be sure.

Both the 2019 and 2022 cars sit within the same G14/G15/G16 generation, which ran from 2018 onwards, so a wiper motor from either year is a realistic match. The key thing to confirm is whether you need a front or rear unit, as these are not interchangeable with each other. Ask the breaker to verify the part against your registration before committing, as running production changes can sometimes affect fitment even within a generation.

Engine and performance variant do not affect wiper motor fitment — the motor is matched to the body generation and front or rear position, not the engine or state of tune. Whether your car is an 840i, 840d, 850i or the full M8, the wiper motor is the same across those variants within the G-series generation. You may occasionally find parts pulled from M8 or high-spec cars at a slight premium, but functionally you are looking for the same unit, so there is no need to insist on a matching engine code.

Trim level, including M Sport, M Sport Pro or xDrive designation, does not affect wiper motor fitment on the 8 Series. The motor is determined by the body generation and whether it is the front or rear unit, not by the trim pack fitted to the donor car. When ordering from a breaker, just confirm front or rear and check the part against your registration — any cosmetic differences on the donor car (different bumper styling, badging etc.) are irrelevant to whether the motor will work.

The G16 Gran Coupe and G15 Coupe are different body styles within the same generation, and their wiper systems — particularly the rear — may differ between a coupe and a four-door body. The front wiper motor is more likely to be shared, but this is exactly the kind of fitment detail you should confirm with the breaker against both registrations before purchasing. Specify clearly which body style you have and which position (front or rear) you need.

BMW introduced a mid-life update to the G-series 8 Series around 2022, refreshing styling and some equipment, but this is a relatively minor update rather than a full generation change. Whether the wiper motor was revised at that point is not something we can state with certainty, so if your car is a 2022 or later example you should ask the breaker to confirm the part is compatible with your exact registration rather than assuming pre- and post-update motors are identical.
