Fitment questions

What years does a Volkswagen Tiguan headlight fit?

The Tiguan has been sold in the UK across two main generations: the Mk1 (2007–2016) and the Mk2 (2016–onwards), with the Mk2 receiving a facelift around 2020. Headlights are generation-specific, so a Mk1 light will not fit a Mk2 and vice versa. Within each generation, fitment is broadly consistent, but confirm the exact pre- or post-facelift period with the breaker against your registration number.

Will a headlight from a 2015 Tiguan fit my 2018 Tiguan?

These two cars sit in different generations — the 2015 is a Mk1 and the 2018 is a Mk2 — so the headlights are not interchangeable. The Mk1 and Mk2 have entirely different front-end designs, and the parts will not bolt up. You need to source a Mk2 (2016–onwards) headlight for your 2018 car.

Does a pre-facelift Mk2 headlight fit a post-facelift Mk2 Tiguan?

The Mk2 Tiguan was facelifted in 2020, and the front-end styling — including the headlights, grille and bumper — changed at that point. Both variants are still within the Mk2 generation, but whether a specific pre-facelift light physically crosses that 2020 boundary is something you should confirm with the breaker against your registration, as the lamp units and mountings may differ.

Does it matter if my Tiguan is an S, SE, SEL or R-Line — will the headlight still fit?

Trim level does not affect headlight fitment on the Tiguan — an S, SE, SEL or R-Line all share the same front-end structure within a given generation and facelift period. The cosmetic difference you may notice is that higher trims or the R-Line can come with xenon or LED headlights rather than halogen, so the lamp units look different even if the housings are similar. Confirm with the breaker whether the specific halogen, xenon or LED variant they have matches your car's setup, as these are not directly interchangeable.

Is the NS (nearside) headlight different from the OS (offside) on a Tiguan?

Yes — NS (passenger side, left) and OS (driver side, right) headlights are handed and are not interchangeable with each other. Always tell the breaker which side you need, and they will match accordingly. Double-check by looking at whether the dipped beam projects to the left on a UK car; if the light is from a right-hand-drive UK vehicle it will be set up correctly for UK roads.

Will a headlight from a Tiguan Allspace fit my standard Tiguan?

The Tiguan Allspace is a longer-wheelbase variant of the Mk2 platform, but wheelbase does not affect the front-end panels — headlights, grille and bumper are shared across the standard and Allspace within the same generation and facelift period. You should still confirm the exact model year and facelift variant with the breaker against your registration to make sure the specific part matches before buying.
