Second Hand Nissan Kubistar Curtain Airbag

No — the Nissan Kubistar (sold in the UK roughly from 2003 to 2009, based on the Renault Kangoo platform) was a compact van and did not feature curtain airbags on any variant. It was a budget commercial vehicle and its passive safety provision was limited to a driver's front airbag on some versions, with no side or curtain airbags fitted to the range at all. If you've been told you need a curtain airbag for a Kubistar, it's worth double-checking the vehicle — you may be thinking of a different model, or the advice may have been given in error.

Almost certainly, yes — no production variant of the Nissan Kubistar was built with curtain airbags, so there is no such part to source for this vehicle. It's possible the breaker has confused it with another Nissan model or a different Renault-based van that did carry more airbag coverage. We'd recommend going back to whoever assessed your vehicle to confirm exactly which airbag component, if any, actually needs replacing.

The Kubistar's airbag provision was minimal by modern standards; depending on the specific variant and year, it may have only a single driver's front airbag module mounted in the steering wheel. If your SRS warning light is on or an airbag component has deployed, the part you're most likely looking for is the driver's airbag or the SRS control module, not a curtain airbag. A breaker who specialises in Renault Kangoo or Nissan Kubistar parts will be best placed to confirm exactly what your vehicle's airbag system includes against your registration.

The Kubistar and Kangoo do share a common platform, but this question doesn't arise in practice because neither the Kubistar nor the equivalent Kangoo van of that era was fitted with curtain airbags as standard. If a Kangoo passenger car variant of a later generation did receive curtain airbags, those would belong to a different body generation and would not be relevant to the Kubistar. If you believe your vehicle has a curtain airbag that needs replacing, please confirm the exact model and registration with a breaker before ordering any part.
