Fitment questions

Will a windscreen from a 2016 V-Class fit my 2019 V-Class?

The current W447 V-Class runs from 2014 onwards, so both years sit within the same generation – but you need to check two things before assuming they'll swap straight over: whether both screens share the same ADAS camera bracket arrangement, and whether one is heated and the other isn't, as these features became more common on later W447 cars. Confirm the exact specification against your registration with the breaker before buying.

Does the generation of V-Class windscreen matter, or will any one fit?

Generation matters a great deal – the W638 (1996–2003) and W639 (2004–2014) are entirely different platforms to the current W447 (2014–present), and their windscreens are not interchangeable across those boundaries. Within the W447 generation fitment is more likely to carry over, but heated glass and ADAS camera brackets still need to be matched, so always check your specific requirements with the breaker.

Will a windscreen from a 2013 V-Class fit a 2015 V-Class?

These sit in different generations – 2013 falls in the W639 (2004–2014) and 2015 falls in the W447 (2014–present) – so crossing that boundary is a real concern and the screens are very unlikely to be a straight swap. You should confirm fitment directly with the breaker quoting both registrations, as this is precisely the kind of generational boundary where parts look similar but don't interchange.

Does the trim level affect which windscreen I need – for example, does a Sport or Marco Polo screen differ from a standard V-Class screen?

Trim level alone – whether it's a base model, Sport, or Marco Polo – does not determine windscreen fitment; what matters is whether the screen has a heating element and whether it carries brackets for an ADAS camera or rain sensor. That said, higher-spec and camper-conversion variants were more likely to be ordered with these features, so a screen sourced from a lower-spec car may physically fit but arrive without the bracket or heating element you need. Check the specification of the donor screen against your own car with the breaker rather than going by trim name alone.

How do I know if my V-Class windscreen has an ADAS camera bracket and does it matter when buying a used one?

ADAS camera brackets are small mounts bonded or clipped to the interior face of the screen, typically near the top centre behind the rear-view mirror, and they hold the forward-facing camera used for lane-keeping, automatic emergency braking, and similar systems. If your car has these systems and you fit a screen without the correct bracket, the camera either won't mount correctly or will need recalibration – and in some cases the system won't function at all. Whether a specific used screen's bracket is compatible with your car's exact ADAS setup is something you should confirm with the breaker against your registration, as bracket designs can vary even within a generation.

Does it matter if a used W447 V-Class windscreen is heated or unheated?

Yes – a heated windscreen has a fine electrical element embedded in the glass and a wiring connector at the base; fitting an unheated screen in its place means losing that function, and fitting a heated screen where no connector exists means the heating won't work. The two types are not functionally interchangeable, even though they may look almost identical from a distance. Tell the breaker whether your current screen is heated or not so they can match the right type.
