Fitment questions

Does a W166 GLE exhaust fit a W167 GLE?

No — the GLE runs across two distinct generations: the W166 (2015–2019) and the W167 (2019–present), and exhaust systems are not interchangeable between them because the underpinnings, engine line-up and emissions calibration changed significantly at that boundary. Always confirm the generation against your registration plate before ordering from a breaker.

Will an exhaust from a 2016 GLE 250d fit my 2018 GLE 350d?

These are both W166-generation models, but the 250d uses the OM651 four-cylinder diesel and the 350d uses the OM642 V6 diesel — different engine codes mean different exhaust routing, pipe diameters and system layouts, so they are very unlikely to be interchangeable. Give the breaker your full registration and ask them to match on engine code, not just generation.

Does the AMG Line trim affect which exhaust system I need?

For the mechanical exhaust system — downpipe, mid-section and back-box — trim level such as Sport, AMG Line or standard does not affect fitment, as these follow the engine code and emissions spec rather than the trim grade. Bear in mind that AMG Line models may have a different rear valance or exhaust tip finisher, so a system from a non-AMG Line car will function identically but the visible tips may look slightly different.

My GLE is Euro 6 — can I use an exhaust from an older Euro 5 car?

The W166 GLE straddles Euro 5 and Euro 6 registration years, and the emissions hardware — including DPF positioning and catalyst configuration — differs between the two eras in ways that matter for both fit and MOT compliance. Whether a specific Euro 5 system will physically mate to your Euro 6 engine and pass an MOT test is something you must confirm with the breaker against your exact registration, as this is strong confirm-with-breaker territory.

Does a GLE Coupe (C167) exhaust fit a standard GLE (W167)?

The C167 GLE Coupe and W167 GLE share platform and engines from 2019 onwards, but the Coupe's lower roofline and different rear bodywork means the rear exhaust section and tip arrangement are unlikely to be a straight swap. Confirm with the breaker whether the specific section you need — centre, rear or full system — crosses between the two body styles for your engine code.

I need to replace the full exhaust on my 2021 GLE 300d — will any 300d system do?

The 300d uses the OM654 four-cylinder diesel, so engine code is your first filter, but you also need to match the W167 generation (2019–present) and confirm the emissions standard matches your vehicle's spec. DPF and catalytic converter interchange specifics are particularly sensitive here, so confirm all of those details with the breaker against your registration rather than assuming any 300d system will suit.
