Buying a used Mercedes-Benz EQS oxygen sensor: what matters

Fitment on a used oxygen sensor varies by vehicle, so a bit of detail goes a long way. Our request form covers what breakers need to know, so every quote you get back is for the correct part:

Fitment questions

Does a Mercedes-Benz EQS even have an oxygen sensor?

No — the EQS is a fully electric vehicle with no internal combustion engine, no exhaust system, and no oxygen sensors of any kind. Oxygen sensors exist solely to monitor exhaust gases in petrol or diesel engines, so they were never fitted to any variant of the EQS. If you have been quoted for an oxygen sensor against an EQS registration, there may be a data error somewhere in the process.

I've been told I need a lambda sensor for my Mercedes EQS — is that the same thing and does it apply?

Lambda sensor and oxygen sensor are the same part, just different names for the same device that measures exhaust oxygen content. Because the EQS has no combustion engine and no exhaust, neither term applies to this vehicle. If your diagnostic equipment is flagging a sensor fault, the relevant sensors on an EQS will be things like high-voltage system sensors or thermal management sensors — not a lambda or oxygen sensor.

What part might I actually be looking for instead of an oxygen sensor on an EQS?

If you are chasing a fault related to emissions or battery management, the parts world on an electric vehicle is very different — you might be looking at a NOx sensor or temperature sensor in the thermal management system, a 12V auxiliary system component, or a sensor within the high-voltage battery assembly. It is worth checking your fault code against Mercedes-Benz EQS-specific documentation or speaking to a breaker who specialises in EV dismantling, as they will be able to identify the correct component from your registration and fault code.

Could an oxygen sensor from a Mercedes-Benz EQE or another Mercedes EV fit my EQS?

The question is moot for the EQS because no oxygen sensor was ever fitted to it, and equally no oxygen sensor was fitted to the EQE or any other Mercedes-Benz battery-electric vehicle. If you are sourcing a sensor for a Mercedes with a combustion engine — such as an E-Class with a petrol or diesel unit — that is a completely different search, and engine code and emissions era (Euro 5 or Euro 6) will be the critical fitment factors to confirm with the breaker.
