Fitment on a used gearbox mount varies by vehicle, so a bit of detail goes a long way. Our request form covers what breakers need to know, so every quote you get back is for the correct part:
Yes, the CLA does have a gearbox mount — it is a transversely mounted front-wheel-drive (or 4MATIC all-wheel-drive) platform, and like all such layouts it uses rubber transmission mounts to locate the gearbox within the engine bay. These mounts are a genuine wear item and are available used from breakers. The exact number and position of mounts can vary depending on whether your car has a manual, 7-speed dual-clutch (7G-DCT), or 8-speed automatic gearbox, so knowing your gearbox type is important when sourcing.
The first-generation CLA ran from 2013 to 2019 under the internal code C117, with a facelift arriving in 2016 that brought some trim and styling changes but retained the same basic platform and drivetrain configurations. Because the mount follows the engine and gearbox combination rather than the facelift date, a mount from a pre-facelift car may well suit a post-facelift car with the same engine code and gearbox type — but whether a specific mount crosses that 2016 boundary should be confirmed with the breaker against your registration, as ancillary mounting details can change mid-production. Always supply your engine code (found on your V5 or via a VIN check) alongside your gearbox type when requesting a quote.
The second-generation CLA moved to the MFA2 platform from 2019 onwards (internal code C118), which is a different architecture to the C117, so gearbox mounts from the two generations are not interchangeable. When sourcing for a C118, make sure the breaker is quoting from the same generation and that the engine code matches yours, as the C118 introduced revised engine families. Confirm all details against your registration to be certain.
Trim level does not affect gearbox mount fitment — a CLA Sport, AMG Line, or SE with the same engine code and gearbox type will use the same mount. The exception worth noting is the CLA 45 AMG, which uses a higher-output version of the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine paired with its own specific dual-clutch gearbox, so mounts from a standard 2.0T CLA 220 would not be correct for a 45. Always match on engine code and gearbox type rather than trim badge.
Fuel type matters primarily because it determines which engine and gearbox combination your car has, and the mount is specific to that combination. A diesel CLA (typically the 2.2-litre CDI variants in the C117 generation) and a petrol CLA of similar power will have different gearbox configurations and will not share the same mounts. Supply your engine code to any breaker alongside whether your car is petrol or diesel to avoid being quoted the wrong part.
The 4MATIC all-wheel-drive variants of the CLA use a transfer unit in addition to the standard transaxle, which can affect the mounting arrangement compared with a two-wheel-drive car with the same engine code. It is therefore important to tell the breaker whether your car is 4MATIC or front-wheel-drive when requesting a quote, as the parts may differ. Confirm this against your registration to be sure you are supplied the correct mount for your drivetrain layout.
