Fitment on a used parcel shelf varies by vehicle, so a bit of detail goes a long way. Our request form covers what breakers need to know, so every quote you get back is for the correct part:
The BMW 7 Series has run through several distinct generations: the E23 (1977–1986), E32 (1987–1994), E38 (1995–2001), E65/E66 (2002–2008), F01/F02 (2009–2015), and G11/G12 (2016–2022). The parcel shelf is specific to the generation and body style, so always identify your exact platform code when asking a breaker for a quote. Mixing parts between generations will not work.
The F01 received a facelift for the 2013 model year, and while the fundamental platform and body structure remained the same, there can be subtle pressing or trim-attachment differences that affect how a parcel shelf locates and clips in. You should name the generation boundary — pre-facelift versus post-facelift F01 — to the breaker and ask them to confirm against your registration before buying. Never assume a direct swap across a facelift year without that check.
Trim level does not affect parcel shelf fitment on the BMW 7 Series; the shelf is determined by generation and body style, not whether the car is an SE, Sport, M Sport, or any other specification. The part you receive from a different trim car should locate and fit identically, though the colour or material finish may differ if the donor car had a different interior colour scheme. Confirm the interior colour with the breaker so you know what to expect cosmetically.
The standard-wheelbase 7 Series (F01, G11 etc.) and the long-wheelbase version (F02, G12 etc.) have different rear cabin dimensions, and the parcel shelf is sized to match the specific body, so these are not interchangeable. Always tell the breaker whether your car is the standard or long-wheelbase variant, which is usually identifiable from the last two digits of the platform code or confirmed against your registration. Fitting the wrong wheelbase shelf will mean it does not span the opening correctly.
The E65 and E66 share the same generation platform (2002–2008) but are the standard and long-wheelbase body styles respectively, and the parcel shelf dimensions differ between them. Always confirm with the breaker against your registration which exact body length your car is before purchasing a used shelf from this generation. Do not assume E65 and E66 parts are interchangeable simply because they share a generation.
2008 falls at the end of the E65/E66 generation, while 2009 marks the start of the completely different F01/F02 generation, so these parcel shelves are not compatible and come from entirely different body structures. This is one of the clearest generational boundaries on the 7 Series, and parts do not cross it. Stick to sourcing a shelf from within the same E65/E66 generation (2002–2008) for a 2008 car.
