All BMW 3 Series variants sold in the UK use fuel injection rather than carburettors – petrol engines use either port injection or direct injection (branded as HPI or TwinPower Turbo in later models), and diesel engines use high-pressure common-rail direct injection, so fuel injectors are a genuine part on every variant of this model. The type of injector differs substantially between petrol and diesel engines, and between port-injected and direct-injected petrol engines, so always confirm your fuel type and engine code with the breaker.

Trim level – whether SE, Sport, M Sport, M Sport Plus, or any other – has no bearing on fuel injector fitment, as the injector is determined entirely by the engine fitted to the car. An SE and an M Sport with the same engine code will use the same injector, so don't let the trim badge put you off a listed part. What matters is confirming the engine code matches, which you'll find on your V5 or via a VIN check.

2012 is a changeover year: the E90 generation ended in 2013 and the F30 generation launched in 2012, so your car could be either depending on when it was registered and which body style you have. This distinction matters enormously for injector fitment because the E90 and F30 use different engine families with incompatible injectors. Check your V5 for the engine code and confirm with the breaker against your registration so they can supply the correct part.

Gearbox type does not affect fuel injector fitment; the injector is matched to the engine, not the transmission. As long as the engine code on the donor car matches yours, the gearbox being manual or automatic on either vehicle is irrelevant. Your engine code is the detail to give the breaker when requesting a quote.

The F30 ran from 2012 to 2019 and received engineering updates during that period, meaning there can be variation in injector specification even within the same 320d model across those years. Because ancillary and specification changes mid-production can affect compatibility, you should confirm the exact match with the breaker using your registration rather than assuming all F30 320d injectors are interchangeable. Supplying your engine code alongside your registration gives the breaker the best chance of finding the correct injector.
