Fitment on a used glow plugs varies by vehicle, so a bit of detail goes a long way. Our request form covers what breakers need to know, so every quote you get back is for the correct part:
Only the diesel variants of the T-Cross have glow plugs — these are heating elements used in diesel engines to aid cold starting. The T-Cross sold in the UK was overwhelmingly petrol-powered (1.0 TSI and 1.5 TSI engines), and petrol engines do not use glow plugs at all. If you drive a petrol T-Cross and are having cold-start or misfiring issues, you may be thinking of ignition coils or spark plugs instead, which are the petrol equivalent.
A small number of T-Cross models were offered with a 1.6 TDI diesel engine in certain markets, and those engines do use glow plugs. However, the diesel T-Cross was very rarely sold through UK main dealers, so if you have a UK-registered T-Cross it is almost certainly petrol — check your V5C under 'fuel type' to confirm. If your V5C does confirm diesel, supply your engine code (found on the V5C or via a VIN check) to the breaker, as that will determine the exact glow plug specification needed.
This is a very common mix-up — if your T-Cross runs on petrol (1.0 TSI or 1.5 TSI), it uses spark plugs, not glow plugs, and glow plugs simply do not exist on your vehicle. Symptoms like rough idling, misfires, or hard starting on a petrol T-Cross point toward spark plugs, ignition coils, or coil packs rather than glow plugs. A breaker supplying parts for the petrol T-Cross will be able to quote you for the correct ignition components once you provide your engine code.
Trim level makes no difference here whatsoever — whether the car has glow plugs depends entirely on whether the engine is diesel or petrol, not whether it is an S, SE, or SEL. All T-Cross trims across the range used the same TSI petrol engine family in the UK, so trim is irrelevant to this question. The engine code stamped on your V5C is the only detail that matters when asking a breaker about ignition or starting components.
The T-Cross (2019 onwards, with a mid-cycle update arriving around 2023) continued to use TSI petrol engines throughout its UK life across both pre- and post-facelift versions, so the facelift boundary is not relevant to glow plugs on UK cars. If you somehow have a diesel T-Cross from either era, confirm with the breaker using your registration and engine code, as ancillary component changes across that production boundary are something they will need to verify against your specific car. For the vast majority of UK T-Cross owners, glow plugs are simply not a part that exists on their vehicle.
