The Ford Ranger sold in the UK runs across two well-established generations: the T6 generation (2011–2022, facelifted in 2015 and again in 2019) and the next-generation T9 (2022 onwards). Subframes are generally interchangeable within the same generation, but crossing from the T6 to the T9 is a different platform entirely and the parts will not swap. Even within the T6, the 2019 facelift brought changes to the front end, so confirm with the breaker whether a pre-2019 or post-2019 subframe matches your registration before buying.

These two vehicles sit either side of the 2019 T6 facelift, which updated the front structure and suspension geometry on the Ranger. A subframe from a 2017 (pre-facelift T6) may not align correctly with the 2020 (post-facelift T6) mounting points, even though both are T6-generation trucks. You should confirm against your specific registration with the breaker rather than assume they interchange.

On the Ford Ranger, engine size can influence the front subframe specification because heavier or higher-output engines sometimes require uprated mounting points or different ancillary bracket positions. The T6 Ranger was offered with 2.0-litre and 2.2-litre and 3.2-litre diesel engines at various points, and the subframe from a 3.2 Wildtrak or Raptor variant may differ from that of a 2.2 XL. Always quote your engine size and variant to the breaker so they can cross-reference the correct part.

Trim level alone does not determine subframe fitment — an XL and a Wildtrak on the same generation and engine will share the same basic subframe. However, the Raptor is a performance-oriented variant with wider tracks and a heavily revised suspension setup, and its subframe is not the same as the standard T6 range, so treat the Raptor as a separate specification. For XL, XLT, Limited, and Wildtrak trims on the same generation and engine size, confirm with the breaker but trim itself is not the key variable.

The T6 generation ran from 2011 to 2022 and received significant facelifts in 2015 and 2019, each of which could affect front-end structure and subframe fitment. Parts within the same facelift phase are more likely to interchange, but whether a pre-2015, 2015–2019, or post-2019 subframe crosses those boundaries without issue is something you need to confirm with the breaker against your registration. The generation name alone is not a safe guide — the facelift year matters too.

The Ranger's subframe on a 4WD (four-wheel-drive) model is designed to accommodate the front differential and associated driveshafts, which means it differs from any 2WD variant's subframe. When sourcing a used subframe, make sure the breaker knows whether your Ranger is 2WD or 4WD, as well as your generation, facelift year, and engine size. Fitting the wrong drivetrain specification is not just an alignment issue — it can affect the entire front suspension and differential mounting, so do not assume they swap freely.
