Fitment on a used front bumper varies by vehicle, so a bit of detail goes a long way. Our request form covers what breakers need to know, so every quote you get back is for the correct part:
The BMW X5 has run across four generations: E53 (1999–2006), E70 (2006–2013), F15 (2013–2018), and G05 (2018–present), and front bumpers are generation-specific so parts from one generation will not fit another. Within each generation there is also a facelift that typically brings changes to the bumper, grille, and lights, so the year of your exact car matters. Always quote your registration to the breaker so they can pinpoint the correct pre- or post-facelift part.
Both a 2010 and a 2012 X5 fall within the E70 generation (2006–2013), but the E70 received a facelift in 2010 which brought changes to the front bumper and surrounding panels. Whether a specific pre-facelift bumper crosses over to a post-facelift car (or vice versa) is something you should confirm with the breaker against both registrations, as the answer depends on exactly which bumper variant is being offered. Do not assume fitment just because both cars share the E70 platform.
Engine and drivetrain designation make no difference to front bumper fitment on the BMW X5 – the front-end panels are shared across the engine range within the same generation and facelift period. So an xDrive30d bumper from, say, an F15 will be the same panel as one from an xDrive40d or xDrive50i of the same facelift period. Just make sure the generation and facelift year match your car, and the breaker will confirm the exact part.
Trim level does affect the front bumper on the BMW X5 – the M Sport trim uses a more aggressive bumper with different lower air intakes and styling compared with the SE or xLine variants, so these are not the same panel. When sourcing from a breaker, specify whether your car is M Sport or standard, as well as the generation and facelift period, to make sure the part matches. You may find a non-M Sport bumper available cheaply, but it will look noticeably different and may not align with the surrounding bodywork correctly.
The F15 X5 ran from 2013 to 2018 and received a mid-cycle update in 2017 which included changes to the front bumper, grille, and light clusters. Whether a pre-2017 bumper can be fitted to a post-2017 car – or vice versa – is not something that can be stated as a straight yes or no, because compatibility across that facelift boundary depends on the specific panel and ancillary parts involved. Confirm both registrations with the breaker and ask them to check the parts against each other before you commit.
The current G05 generation started in 2018, so a 2022 car is within that generation, and bumpers from other G05 models built in the same facelift period should be compatible. The G05 received a facelift in 2023, so a 2022 car sits in the pre-facelift window – parts from other pre-facelift G05 cars (2018–2022) are the ones to target. Confirm the exact registration with the breaker to make sure the panel and any integrated sensor or camera apertures match your specific build.
