Both a 2010 and a 2013 M3 fall within the E90/E92/E93 generation (2008–2013), so the steering columns should be from the same design family. However, there were minor running changes across this generation's production life, and column electronics or connectors can vary, so this is not guaranteed to be a straight swap. Ask the breaker to cross-reference both cars' registrations to confirm compatibility before you commit.

Trim and package differences such as the Competition Pack on the F80 M3 primarily affect suspension settings, engine mapping, and cosmetic details rather than the steering column itself, so the column from a non-Competition M3 of the same generation should be the same part. You should not need to seek out a Competition-spec donor specifically for this component. Confirm with the breaker against your registration as a precaution, since electronic steering systems can carry software or connector differences in some variants.

Make sure the donor car's generation matches yours exactly — as outlined above, columns are not interchangeable across generations such as E46 to E90.
