Fitment on a used wing varies by vehicle, so a bit of detail goes a long way. Our request form covers what breakers need to know, so every quote you get back is for the correct part:
The original New Beetle (often called the Mk1 New Beetle) ran from 1998 to 2010, and VW introduced a facelift around 2005 that brought changes to the front-end styling including lights and bumpers. Wings within the pre-facelift period (1998–2005) should be consistent with each other, and the same applies within the post-facelift period (2005–2010), but whether a wing crosses that 2005 boundary cleanly is worth confirming with the breaker against your registration before buying.
The A5-platform Beetle (the second-generation 'Beetle' without the 'New' prefix) ran from 2011 onwards, and a facelift arrived in 2016 that updated the front-end appearance. A 2013 wing is pre-facelift and a 2016 wing sits right at the facelift boundary, so confirm with the breaker whether your specific car carries the updated or original front-end spec before ordering.
Trim level does not affect wing fitment on the Beetle — the panel itself is the same across trims including Design, Sport, and others within the same generation and facelift period. You may find cosmetic differences such as colour or whether a trim strip or moulding is included, so check those details with the breaker, but the wing itself will be the correct fit.
Front wings are shared between the hatchback and cabriolet body styles within the same generation and facelift period, so the body style does not change which wing you need. Confirm the generation and facelift period with your breaker and they will be able to match the correct panel regardless of whether your car has a fixed or folding roof.
The New Beetle received a facelift around 2005, which means a 2002 car is pre-facelift and a 2007 car is post-facelift, and front-end panels including wings can differ across that boundary. You should confirm with the breaker against your specific registration whether the post-facelift wing is compatible with your earlier car, as fitment across that boundary is not guaranteed.
Engine and gearbox choice has no bearing on wing fitment whatsoever — the panel is determined entirely by the generation and facelift period of your car, not what is under the bonnet. Simply confirm your registration and whether your car is NS (nearside, passenger side) or OS (offside, driver side) with the breaker and they can locate the right panel for you.
