A used parking sensor that fits one vehicle won't always fit another - even within the same model range. These questions help breakers match stock to your exact vehicle before they quote:
Parking sensors were available on the Vauxhall Meriva as a factory-fitted option on higher specification variants, so used sensors do exist and are worth searching for. They were not standard across all trim levels, so not every Meriva on the road will have had them fitted from new. If you're unsure whether your specific car left the factory with them, check the options list on your V5C or ask the breaker to confirm against your registration before ordering.
The Meriva A and Meriva B are entirely different generations with different body panels, bumper designs, and wiring architectures, so sensors from one generation will not swap directly into the other. The Meriva B also introduced a rear-camera option on some variants, which changed how parking aid systems were integrated. Always confirm the donor car's generation matches yours before buying from a breaker.
The physical parking sensors themselves are the same part regardless of trim level; what varies is whether the trim had them fitted as standard or as an option. A sensor from a donor SE, Exclusiv, or any other Meriva B trim will fit the same bumper apertures on your car, provided both cars have the pre-drilled bumpers. Be aware that if your car was never factory-fitted with sensors, your bumper may not be pre-drilled, which is a separate job for an auto-electrician or bodyshop.
The Meriva B received a mid-life facelift around 2014, which brought minor front and rear bumper styling changes. Sensors from a pre-facelift Meriva B (2010–2014) may not seat correctly in a post-facelift bumper due to those styling differences, and vice versa. Confirm with the breaker whether the donor car is pre- or post-facelift and match it to your own car's bumper to be safe.
Used parking sensors from a breaker will almost always come in the donor car's original body colour, which may not match yours. The sensors themselves are interchangeable regardless of colour, so fitment is not affected, but you should budget to have them painted or wrapped to match your car. Many breakers supply them unpainted or in a neutral finish, so it's worth asking before you commit to a set.
Most factory-fitted Meriva parking sensor systems use four rear sensors, with some higher-spec variants also having front sensors, giving up to eight in total. You can replace individual faulty sensors as long as the replacement is the same type and from a compatible system, though buying a matched set from one donor car reduces the risk of compatibility issues with the control module. Ask the breaker whether they can supply the full kit including the control module and wiring harness, as replacing just the sensors without the module can sometimes cause error codes.
