Fitment questions

Will a door handle from an older Grandland X fit my newer one – does the facelift change anything?

The Grandland X ran from 2017 through to around 2021 in its single generation, with a mid-life facelift arriving for the 2019 model year. Door handles from pre-facelift cars (2017–2018) and post-facelift cars (2019 onwards) may differ in profile or fixing points, so while the generation is the same, you should confirm with the breaker whether the donor car's year matches yours before buying.

Does it matter which side I order – can I use a driver's side handle on the passenger side?

Yes, it absolutely matters: door handles are side-specific. In the UK, OS (offside) is the driver's right-hand side and NS (nearside) is the passenger left-hand side, and the two are not interchangeable. Always tell your breaker which side you need so they can pull the correct handle.

Does the trim level affect which door handle I need – for example, does an SE handle fit an Elite or Ultimate?

Trim level – whether SE, SE Nav, Elite, Elite Nav, or Ultimate – does not affect the physical fitment of the door handle, so a handle from any of those trims will fit the same aperture. The only difference you might notice is a colour or finish variation if the donor car had a different body colour or chrome detailing, but that is a cosmetic point rather than a fitment one and the handle can be resprayed or swapped as needed.

Will a Grandland X door handle from a 2018 car fit my 2020 facelift model?

The 2018 car is pre-facelift and the 2020 is post-facelift (the facelift came in for the 2019 model year), so these sit either side of a known design update and there is a real chance the handles differ. Name the generation boundary to your breaker and ask them to verify the part against your registration before you commit, as we cannot guarantee cross-facelift fitment.

The Grandland X is only available as a five-door – does door position front or rear matter when ordering a handle?

Yes, door position matters even on a five-door car: front and rear door handles are shaped and mounted differently and are not interchangeable. When you contact a breaker, specify both the side (NS or OS) and whether you need the front or rear door handle so they can pull the right part.

Does the colour of a second-hand Grandland X door handle matter for fitment?

Colour is a preference rather than a fitment factor – a handle in the wrong colour will still fit correctly and can be resprayed to match your vehicle. Focus your search on getting the right side (NS or OS), the right door position (front or rear), and the correct model year relative to the facelift, and treat colour as a secondary consideration.
