The heater motor (also called the blower motor) is the fan unit inside the dashboard that pushes warm or cool air through the vents into the cabin, and every Ford Transit Connect has one regardless of engine or trim level. It sits in the heater box behind the dashboard on the nearside and is present on all petrol and diesel variants across all generations. If your heater blows no air at all, or only works on certain speed settings, the blower motor or its resistor pack is usually the cause.

The Ford Transit Connect ran in two distinct generations: the first generation covered 2002 to 2013, and the second generation ran from 2013 onwards, with a facelift arriving around 2018. The heater box and blower motor assembly changed substantially between these two generations, so a first-gen motor will not be a straightforward swap into a second-gen van. Confirm the exact generation of any donor part with the breaker against your registration before purchasing.

Both 2015 and 2017 Transit Connects sit within the second generation (2013 onwards) and pre-facelift, so the heater motor is very likely to interchange between these two years. That said, always give the breaker your registration number so they can cross-reference the part number from the donor vehicle and confirm compatibility before you commit.

Trim level does not affect heater motor fitment on the Ford Transit Connect — the blower motor is the same unit whether the van is Ambiente, Trend, or Limited. The only exception worth checking is if your van was factory-fitted with dual-zone or enhanced climate control, as that system may use a different blower assembly to a standard single-zone setup; confirm this with the breaker against your registration.

Engine type does not determine which heater motor is fitted; the blower motor is part of the cabin heating system and is the same unit across petrol and diesel variants within the same generation. You can safely source a heater motor from either fuel type as long as the donor and your van are from the same generation, and ideally the same model year bracket.

Give the breaker your full registration number, as this allows them to identify your exact build spec and match it to the donor vehicle's part number. It is also worth checking whether your van has standard ventilation or full air conditioning, and whether it has a single or dual blower setup, as these can affect which motor is correct.
