Buying a used Fiat Fiorino coil pack: what matters

Fitment on a used coil pack varies by vehicle, so a bit of detail goes a long way. Our request form covers what breakers need to know, so every quote you get back is for the correct part:

Fitment questions

Does the Fiat Fiorino actually have a coil pack?

It depends entirely on the engine. The Fiorino (2008-onwards, based on the Fiat Fiorino III generation shared with the Peugeot Bipper and Citroen Nemo) was offered with both petrol and diesel engines - the 1.4-litre petrol engine does use a coil pack ignition system, but the 1.3 MultiJet and 1.4 HDi diesel engines do not use a coil pack at all, as diesels ignite fuel by compression rather than a spark. If your Fiorino is diesel, you will not find a coil pack on the vehicle - check your V5 or a VIN check to confirm your fuel type before searching.

Will a coil pack from an older Fiat Fiorino fit my 2015 model?

The current-generation Fiorino III launched in 2008 and has run through to the present, so a 2015 example sits within the same generation as an early 2009 build. For petrol-engined examples, the key detail is the engine code rather than the year - if both vehicles share the same engine code (visible on your V5 or via a VIN check), the coil pack is far more likely to be compatible. Name the engine code when requesting quotes from a breaker, as mid-production ancillary or mounting changes can occur and the breaker will be best placed to confirm against your registration.

Does the trim level affect which coil pack I need for a Fiat Fiorino?

No - trim level makes no difference to coil pack fitment on the Fiorino. Whether your van is in base Active, mid-spec Dynamic, or top Multijet trim, what matters is the engine code, not the trim badge. The coil pack follows the engine, so two Fiorinos with identical engine codes will need the same part regardless of how they are specced.

I have a 1.3 MultiJet diesel Fiorino - why can't I find a coil pack for it?

That is because your vehicle does not have one. Diesel engines, including the 1.3 MultiJet fitted to the majority of Fiorinos sold in the UK, use glow plugs to aid cold starting and compression ignition rather than a spark-based system - there is no coil pack in the ignition circuit. If you are having a no-start or misfire-type issue on a diesel Fiorino, the parts you are more likely to need are glow plugs, glow plug relay, or injectors, depending on the fault.

How do I make sure a used coil pack from a breaker will fit my petrol Fiorino?

The single most useful thing you can give a breaker is your engine code, which you will find on your V5 logbook or by running a VIN check. Quoting just the year and model is not enough, as small production changes can occur across a generation that may affect whether a part bolts straight on - the breaker will check the donor vehicle's engine code against yours. ECU pairing or any immobiliser coding implications with a replacement coil pack are worth confirming directly with the breaker before you buy.
