Second Hand BMW X6 Front Panel

The BMW X6 has run across three generations: the first-gen E71 ran from 2008 to 2014, the second-gen F16 ran from 2014 to 2019, and the third-gen G06 launched in 2019 and is still current. Front panels, including the bonnet, front wings, grille surround and bumper support, are generation-specific, so you need to match your car to the correct generation when sourcing from a breaker.

A 2013 X6 is a first-gen E71 and a 2015 X6 is a second-gen F16, so these are different generations and the front panels will not interchange. Always match the generation – E71 parts to E71 cars, F16 parts to F16 cars – when getting quotes from breakers.

The E71 received a facelift in 2012, which brought updated headlights, a revised grille and a restyled front bumper, so pre-2012 and post-2012 E71 front panels are not the same design. Whether a specific panel from a pre-facelift E71 will physically interchange with a post-facelift E71 is something you should confirm with the breaker against your registration, as individual components vary. The F16 also received styling updates during its run, so apply the same caution there and always quote your reg to the breaker.

Engine and drivetrain variant make no difference to front panel fitment on the X6 – the front end structure and panels are shared across all standard engine grades within a generation. The exception worth flagging is the X6 M (or M50i on G06), which may use a different front bumper or grille arrangement, so if your car is the full M variant confirm the specific part with the breaker against your reg.

Trim level does not change the underlying front panel fitment – the bonnet, front wings and slam panel are the same across SE, Sport and M Sport grades within a generation. However, M Sport models typically have a different front bumper design and may have different grille and splitter styling, so a bumper or grille from an SE-spec X6 may look noticeably different when fitted to an M Sport and vice versa. Ask the breaker to confirm the bumper style matches your trim so you avoid a cosmetic mismatch.

The X5 (E70/F15/G05) and X6 (E71/F16/G06) do share platforms generation for generation, but the X6's fastback roofline gives it a distinct front-end design from the A-pillars forward, and the panels are specific to each model. Confirm with your breaker that any part they quote is taken from an X6 donor vehicle rather than an X5, as the two are not interchangeable.
